Sophie St-Pierre is a doctoral student in clinical psychology at Université du Québec en Outaouais. Her research interests focus on coping strategies. As part of her doctoral studies, Ms. St-Pierre is interested in the impacts of ethnic discrimination on the anxiety symptoms of adolescents with an immigrant background and in the adaptive strategies (coping strategies) mitigating these symptoms.

 

Teodora Vigu

Teodora Vigu is a doctoral student in Clinical Psychology at Université du Québec en Outaouais. Her research interests focus on transcultural psychology and immigration. Her experience working with clients with an immigrant background and her own experience of immigration as a teenager motivate her research interests. For her doctoral dissertation, she is studying social support among adolescents with an immigrant background.

Sophie Fiset is a master’s student in psychoeducation at Université du Québec en Outaouais. Her project focuses on the different types of teacher support (emotional, instrumental, informative, and feedback) that promote academic engagement (emotional, cognitive, and behavioral) among immigrant high school students.

Sandra Gilbert is a master’s student in psychoeducation at Université du Québec en Outaouais. Her project aims to document the perception of secondary school workers and teachers regarding the psychological well-being of adolescents with an immigrant background. More specifically, she is interested in how they perceive their role as social support actors with these adolescents and their interventions to promote the psychological well-being of the young people in their charge.

 

Frédérique Lalonde

Frédérique Lalonde is a master’s student in psychoeducation at Université du Québec en Outaouais. Her dissertation focuses on the social support provided by siblings and its association with adolescents’ acculturative stress. She has always been interested in cultural diversity and has taken part in several humanitarian cooperation trips to Guatemala, Haiti, and Senegal.

Johanne Thomson-Sweeny is a research professional for the It Takes a Village Laboratory. She has been a research assistant for a variety of projects since 2017. Johanne did her MA on the international adoptee experience of social media contact with the biological family. Her doctoral thesis focuses on adoptive family relationships in international adoption following informal contact with the biological family. It is directed by Geneviève Pagé, professor at UQO, and Marie-Andrée Poirier, professor at UdeM.

Véronique Menand, M.Sc.

Véronique Menand has been working as a research professional at Université du Québec en Outaouais (UQO) since 2012 and is involved in several projects of the It Takes a Village Research Laboratory. Ms. Menand’s work focuses on the point of view of parents of vulnerable families with respect to family-school relationships as well as the staff’s support intentions in preschool educational settings in the context of parental violence. She is currently completing a doctorate under the supervision of Johanne April and Marie-Ève ​​Clément, professors at UQO.

Sophie Lampron-de Souza is a master’s student in psychoeducation at Université de Montréal under the supervision of Isabelle Archambault. She is interested in the processes of acculturation in and out of school, the resilience of immigrant and refugee families, and intergroup relations between immigrants and the community.

Corinne Hébert is a master’s student in psychoeducation at Université de Montréal
and a research assistant at the It Takes a Village Research Laboratory. Her work focuses on the teacher-student relationship among adolescents with or without immigrant backgrounds. (Supervisor: Isabelle Archambault, professor at the School of Psychoeducation, Université de Montréal.)

 

 

Annie Lemieux, M.Sc.

Statistician

Université du Québec en Outaouais

Annie Lemieux is a social science statistician and has pursued her work with great passion for nearly 15 years. Her areas of expertise include regression models, longitudinal analyses, structural equation models (SEM), latent class analyses, and factor analyses. She is also the co-author of several publications, a trainer, and a creator of statistical seminars.

 

 

Andréanne Pomerleau, M.Sc.

The holder of a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in psychoeducation, Andréanne works as a psychoeducator at St-Maxime school in Laval. She has a keen interest in mixed-cost research carried out with children and adolescents with an immigrant background.
